Romance, Parisian Glamour, and a Bichon Frisé: Our French Getaway
When my husband proposed a romantic escape to Paris and Versailles in June, I was all in—but only if our Bichon Frisé, Coco, could join us.

Spoiler: she did, and she may or may not have become the star of every café we visited. What followed was eight days of luxury, indulgence, and picture-perfect moments that felt straight out of a movie.
If you’ve ever dreamed of a trip filled with incredible food, jaw-dropping hotels, and a little canine charm, this is it.

Parisian Elegance at Cheval Blanc
Stepping into Cheval Blanc Paris felt like stepping into heaven with a side of designer shoes. This was luxury on another level. Our suite overlooked the Seine, and Coco immediately claimed the fluffy couch as her throne. For three glorious days, we soaked up everything Paris had to offer.

Day 1: Shopping Extravaganza
We spent our first full day doing what Paris does best—shopping. The Champs-Élysées, Galeries Lafayette, and La Samaritaine were our playgrounds. Coco charmed shop attendants everywhere we went, and my husband even surprised me with a little something from Cartier (isn’t he the best?).

We ended the day at Le Tout-Paris, where we dined on a rooftop with sweeping city views. The burrata was as dreamy as the sunset.
Day 2: Masterpieces and Secrets

Our private guide for the day whisked us past the lines and into The Louvre and Musée d’Orsay, revealing hidden gems and insider tips. My husband pretended he wasn’t interested in art, but by the time we were standing in front of Monet’s “Water Lilies,” he was practically misty-eyed. We topped off the day at Lasserre, where the ceiling opens up to the stars. Yes, the stars. Coco stayed tucked into her little travel bag under the table, probably dreaming of steak.

Day 3: Saint-Germain Chic & Spa Bliss
We started the morning strolling through Saint-Germain-des-Prés, sipping coffee at a café and pretending we were locals. The boutiques were adorable, but the highlight was the spa back at Cheval Blanc. The massage was so good I considered bribing the therapist to move in with us. Dinner that night at Pilgrim was creative and exquisite, with flavors I’m still dreaming about. And, because my husband’s favorite wine bar, Legrand Filles et Fils, was nearby, we ended the night sipping red wine while Coco napped in her carrier.

For the next leg of our trip, we headed to Airelles Château de Versailles. I mean, who doesn’t want to live like royalty for a couple of nights? Our Necker Suite overlooked the Orangerie, and I half-expected Marie Antoinette to pop in for tea.

Day 4: The Château Life
The exclusive tour of Versailles was beyond anything I could’ve imagined. No crowds, just us wandering through gilded halls, secret doors, and the famous Hall of Mirrors. Coco wasn’t allowed inside, but the staff spoiled her with treats back at the hotel while we played king and queen for the day. Dinner at Airelles’ restaurant was as decadent as the palace itself.

Day 5: Fine Dining Extravaganza
We strolled the palace gardens, which felt like walking through a painting. Later, we treated ourselves to dinner at Gordon Ramsay au Trianon—and let me tell you, Gordon does not mess around. The beef Wellington? Perfection. Coco enjoyed her own royal treatment back at the suite, happily snuggling in her little dog bed.

Back to Parisian Charm at Hotel Lutetia

Our final stop was the iconic Hotel Lutetia, located in the heart of Paris. This art deco beauty was chic, luxurious, and oh-so-French. Coco was greeted like a star, and we immediately felt at home.

Day 6: Montmartre Magic
Our private guide took us to Basilique du Sacré-Cœur and the artistic streets of Montmartre. It was like stepping into a postcard. We stopped at a little café where I indulged in a croissant the size of my head while Coco soaked up all the attention from passing tourists.
Day 7: Marais Meanderings
On our final full day, we explored the trendy Le Marais, shopped at chic boutiques, and visited The Centre Pompidou for a dose of modern art. We also made time to admire the architecture of Palais Garnier—an absolute must-see.

Lunch at Semilla was a cozy and delicious affair, and we ended our trip with an unforgettable meal at Les Ombres, where the Eiffel Tower sparkled in the background.
Talk about a perfect finale!
