Fiesta in Cabo!
Ok, this month’s travel is starting to get ridiculous, even for me…

Glenda, my adorable next door neighbor in Dallas, had a villa in Palmilla that she needed to us the days on, so we decided to take a girl’s trip down.
First good sign: Our driver met us at the airport with cold Coronas in hand (no lime, but in this situation I’ll settle…). The Villa (click for link) was in the Palmilla Del Mar community with 2 master bedrooms overlooking its beautiful infinity pool and hot tub, with the Sea of Cortes in the distance.
As soon as arrived at our villa we threw on our bikinis and took the golf cart down to the club house pool at Club 96 – Woooooow – that was something else!

A fantastic band was playing – El Pura Vida– after their set we asked them if they had a CD we could buy, which they didn’t, but they told us the other places they’d be playing that week, so Glenda and I decided to start a groupie adventure and hit them!

That night we took it easy and had a nice dinner at Agua at the One & Only, just a 5 minute golf cart ride from our villa. One & Only definitely knows how to do it… They had the absolute most beautiful bars. We had a lovely cocktail hour sitting around a fire pit overlooking the sea before making our way to dinner, where I ate the MOST delicious Paella ever!
Monday I worked during the day and then we had champagne in the hot tub before heading out to Acre for dinner and to see our new favorite band play (yes, we totally turned into groupies! LOL!). The road there was very treacherous: a long winding dirt road up and around a mountain with lots of random boulders and rocks strewn about. We weren’t sure where we were going and started worrying a bit where our taxi cab driver was going to take us! Anyway, we arrived safe and sound, and were in awe of the natural beauty and twinkling lights.

Another beautiful bar and incredible music; the food at Acre was very good, too. If I had to do it over, I’d order one of the drinks that gets set on fire, though – I didn’t see those until we were leaving…. Glenda was flirting with the lead singer, Pablo, and they were willing to have one more, but after all we had already had, I didn’t want to get into more of my usual trouble while down in Mexico….
Despite taking an unmarked taxi with no license plates (I went to take a photo of the license to put into my iCloud, just in case something happened to us, but there wasn’t one! I said “Glenda, there’s no license plates to get a photo of!” but she just laughed and said “Then take a photo of me instead!”…) we still made it home safely.

cheers!

The next day we actually hit the gym at Club Espiritu, which felt good after muchos margaritas, nachos, pasta, paella…. And mas muchos margaritas…
gorgeous gym there with good music that you can rock out to during your work out… Turns out I can still touch my toes in the air jumping on a trampoline, and margaritas and ping-pong do not mix (unless you want a heck of a good time, that is!)

We took it easy that night and had fresh guac & bean dip by our fire pit at the villa – after all, we had to save our energy for our next night of band-following!

We went sailing the next day on the Hobie Cat at Club 96 – was a great time! Despite having attended sailing camp on a lake in northern Wisconsin for a few summers, we couldn’t get it going, so the water-sports director swam out and took us around.

That night we decided to go out and party a bit, so we followed our new favorite band to La Lupita, whose reputation is for having the best tacos and mezcal in Cabo… I’ve gotta say, their reputation is spot on. We shared a flight of mezcal (before switching to some delicious but ridiculously strong margaritas…), I had the duck tacos with mole (my favorite), the miso fish, and the mayan fish. Glenda had cheese crust pastor (her favorite) pibil suckling pig, and el torero chorizo – all of the tacos were amazing.

We spent our last day at Club 96, hanging out. Just to cause a little bit more trouble, we ordered margaritas with our tacos. The waiter then asked me if I’d rather homemade sangria with Jose Cuervo…. I thought it was some cool new cocktail I’d never heard of, so I said yes… turns out its a shot and chaser! I wasn’t planning on doing it like a shot, but it ended up going down so easily… the empty shot glass on the taco table is mine…

We hit the VIP Lounge at the airport on the way home – it’s definitely one of the nicer lounges. Tuxedoed waiters bringing you anything you want from their (free) top-shelf open bar, a billiards & games room, good wifi…
